I’m shouting for joy for a couple of my fav newborn photographers! Kelly and Tracy are fabulous newborn photographers in NE and they were interviewed on The Today Show this morning. I’ve been “stalking” I mean following their work for some time now. It brings me joy to see others succeed and for their work to be noticed.

You will hear that Tracy says you can photograph babies up to a month to get these shots HOWEVER this is not always true, as each baby is different. Of course we can do the session but we will have to go with the flow of things and see what baby likes and doesn’t like. Some one month old’s do not like to be curled while others do. My personal preference is to photograph within the first 10 days of “new-ness”. I’ve found that when we catch them around that age they curl a little better and sleep a little longer (*sometimes*)

It is very important to turn that heat up or they won’t sleep. Notice how *most* babies love to be swaddled…that’s why. I love when my expectant moms call me while they are “still cookin” that way we can pencil in their due date. I have moms add me to the list of people to call after baby is born. When I get that call I look for that 10 day window to capture them in and get their session on the books. I know it must seem hard and overwhelming especially for first time parents but I ask my clients to do nothing. Mom really should be resting and just enjoying watching. I don’t want them lifting a finger while I’m there. I just want them to sit back and relax while I work to capture their new bundle of joy before they are running up and down the steps and slamming doors…..Oh wait that’s my 9 and 10 year old. lol
