Much like when Katrina happened, watching the news on the horrible situation in Haiti saddens and frustrates me. There are many incredibly brave men and women who are out there volunteering their time and risking their lives to help. I wish I was in a position and of strong enough constitution to do the same.

But I’m not.

So instead, I’m teaming up with Helping Hearts! My mentor/across the miles friend Michele Anderson of Pinkle Toes Photography, and her dear friend Lyndsay Stradtner of Life in Motion Photography, decided that together, we need to do something to help. But, we need you, too! Here’s the deal:

Your littlest sweetheart could win a helping hearts photo session in the heart of downtown Leesburg!
• This session will be photographed by myself and will be held before 5pm onFriday, February 5th.
• Session is for up to 3 children (6 months and older) and will last between 1-2 hours.
• Winner will also receive 25 fully processed, high resolution images on CD. Print to your heart’s content!

How to win:
• Make a MINIMUM donation of $10 to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund .
• Forward a copy of your receipt to snlprophoto@gmail.com.
• All entries must be RECEIVED by midnight (Eastern time) on January 27th.
• To keep things fair donations have to be dated from today thru the 27th .
• Winner will be drawn at random and announced on January 28th.
• That gives you a week to shop for the perfect sweetheart outfit, if need be.


• You can enter as many times as you’d like, but each entry must be the minimum $10 donation.

Other details:
• Session participants must sign a model release.
• Session must be held in Leesburg on Feb. 5th.
• If the winner does not claim his/her prize by Feb. 1st or cannot claim the prize, then another winner will be drawn.

Are the holidays over??? Thanks to the wonderful snow blizzard the internet was knocked out and since then it has been very *wonky* Therefore I wasn’t able to post the winner until now.

Last year I took part of Giving is Awesome. Which was kick started by a photographer in New Jersey that caused over 500 photographers to donate over $565,000 worth of custom photography to deserving people around the world. WOW weee! This year I have decided that I *must* participate again! So it’s time….

You know someone. You know someone who’s experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can’t afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love, and beauty.

You know someone. I guarantee it.

I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography — $2000 worth, to be exact. Whether it’s albums, prints for Grandma, or a slideshow to watch over and over, it’s in your power to give them the artwork they deserve this holiday season.

I *know* you saw it! Burly football men, on TV, wearing pink for Breast Cancer awareness!

Here’s a statement from the NFL:

Throughout October, NFL games will feature players, coaches and referees wearing pink game apparel to raise awareness for the campaign, as well as on-field pink ribbon stencils and special K-balls and pink coins. All apparel worn at games by players and coaches and special K-balls and pink coins will auctioned off at NFL Auction (www.NFLAuction.NFL.com), with proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society and team charities.

This is an issue that has directly touched the lives of so many in the NFL family, and we are committed to helping make a difference in breast-cancer prevention.

CELEBRATE NATIONAL BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH


National Breast Cancer Awareness Month educates women about the importance of early detection. More and more women are getting mammograms to detect breast cancer in its earliest stages. As a result, breast cancer deaths are on the decline. Encourage the women in your life to get mammograms on a regular basis.

Pictures of Hope
Pictures of Hope is a charitable organization of professional photographers who provide complimentary, documentary-style, photography sessions to babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and their families. The Pictures of Hope Foundation is comprised of photographers (many of whom are “NICU mothers” themselves) from across the United States and Canada who are dedicated to donating their time to a cause they believe in; and sharing the gift of photography with families in need.

Sweet Nate….I’m back to post yet again more heavy hearted news. While waiting for my grandma at church this weekend, I signed in and checked up on FB {facebook} to see “what was going on” with my friends. I was sooo deeply sadden to read a post that said “Pray for Tracy and her family she loss her sudden this morning to H1NI” UGH This can’t be happening….

Tracy Stone is a photographer and graphic designer. She designed my previous ladybug logo

Four-year-old Nathen Stone was in pre-kindergarten at Homestead Elementary School in Crossville.

“Everybody who knew him loved him. His smile would light up a room,” says Cathy Largent, a spokesperson for the Stone family.

She says Nathen, or Nate as he was called, had been hospitalized for the last two weeks and died early Sunday morning after developing pneumonia.

“At Cumberland Medical Center, they did not test for H1N1. At East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, they did test for it and confirmed it. He did have the H1N1 virus,” Largent says.

Our photography community is AMAZING!!! When needed we all pull together and help as much as we can. Be it prayers, funding, images or just re-posting for others to learn and receive information and awareness. It over joys me each time no matter how hard the news is to hear we always have a way of pulling together for each other. Sweet Nate has gone on and is no longer suffering. But as you can imagine the medical bills along with funeral arrangements have been overwhelming for the Stone family.
